Met Police officer accused of two rapes


A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been accused of two counts of assault.


PC Rupert Edwards, connected toward the South West Essential Order Unit, was captured on doubt of assault on 5 September.

The charges connected with supposed offenses in Lambeth and Surrey against two ladies who matured in their 20s and 30s.


PC Edwards, who has been suspended from obligation, will show up at Westminster Justices' Court later.


'Profoundly stressing'

The rapes are said to have been committed in Lambeth on 26 August, and in Surrey on 5 September, while he was off the clock.


Leader Jon Savell, from the Met's amazing skill order, said: "This news is profoundly stressful and I perceive the worry it will cause the general population and other police officers.


"We made a prompt move to suspend PC Edwards from obligation when he was first captured in September.


"Judicial procedures are currently dynamic and I actually should don't remark while that cycle happens."


The power said the two ladies were being upheld by uniquely prepared officers.


The Satisfied's Directorate of Expert Guidelines and the Autonomous Office for Police Lead have been educated.
